The piano is the center of Shlomi Shaban’s musical life. He began his career as a classical pianist and gained popularity and the love of the audience as an original singer-songwriter. Juggling classical music, jazz, rock and pop, Shaban is a sophisticated and fascinating performing artist. Haaretz music critic Ben Shalev notes that the combination of accuracy and elegance and rock ’n‘ roll with Shaban’s charismatic performance is extremely rare and quite explosive. Shlomi Shaban (42) released four solo albums and in the past year has been busy with numerous projects and collaborations: a joint performance with Chava Alberstein; the Reflections Series with the Israeli Opera and the Israel Camerata Jerusalem Orchestra; A tribute show to The High Windows Israeli pop group with Assaf Amdursky and Yael Kraus; Artistic Director of the Majesta Festival; and more. Shaban, his songs, and the audience are accustomed to a one-on-one meeting, however now, after accumulating new musical experiences, he returns to special performances with brilliant percussionist Itamar Doari. They shared a stage in the past and have always dreamed of deeper collaboration. Together they go on a joint expedition exploring Shaban’s compositions while on the stage a variety of percussion instruments, keyboards and inevitably, the piano.

Doari that specializes in traditional percussion instruments has created a unique and inspiring combination of instruments as a percussion set. He has worked in a variety of styles, from classical orchestras to artists such as Jonny Greenwood, Avishai Cohen, Berry Sakharof, Idan Raichel, Eviatar Banai, Yemen Blues (founding member with Ravid Kahalani), Esther Ofarim, Ahuva Ozeri, Ehud Banai and more. Doari masters an impressive set of tools that include tamburines, cajón, claves, clay goblet drum, and African bells and drums, in a wonderful and harmonious set. Incorporating innovation and original interpretation while exploring drumming and percussion facilitate his outstanding ability to produce a wide range of hues and vibes. In Eilat, Shaban and Doari host cellist and singer Maya Belsitzman who skillfully blends her classical background with jazz and popular music. Belsitzman while leading her own musical project with her life partner, drummer Matan Ephrat, has collaborated with a great many acclaimed artists such as Yasmine Levy, Achinoam Nini (Noa), Idan Raichel, Danny Sanderson, Miri Mesika, and more. Shaban’s songs are reinterpreted and continually explored in a singular encounter of musical instruments and performing artists, an intimate and exciting rendezvous
